Kenigsberg, Rita Vertelney

 

Kenigsberg (Vertelney) Rita Vertelney, 86, of St. Louis Park and Duluth, passed away February 9, 2002. Preceded in death by husbands, Joseph Vertelney and Edmund Kenigsberg and brothers, Herbert and George Samuels. She is survived by children, Paula & Don Edelstein, Jerusalem, Israel; Mark Vertelney, St. Louis Park; Sam & Lisa Vertelney, Plymouth; sister, Rose Goldfine, St. Louis Park; sisters & brothers-in-law, Jeanette & Ted Frumes, CA; Geraldine & Sidney Schneider, New York; grandchildren: Joey & Zahava Edelstein; Kobi & Irit Edelstein; Seth, Ronit & Joel Vertelney; great-grandchildren: Ophir and Maya Edelstein; daughter-in-law, Debbie Vertelney, St. Louis Park; step-children: Edie & Hy Baer and Lynn Kenigsberg, all of Chicago; Steve & Rose Kenigsberg, Duluth; sisters-in-law: Essie & Sylvia Samuels, St. Louis Park; nieces, nephews and grand-nieces & grand-nephews. Born in Lithuania, Rita immigrated to Duluth with her family at age six. She moved to St. Louis Park in 1993. Rita was a graduate of Duluth State Teachers College and an active member of the Duluth Jewish community. She served as President of a number of different organizations, including Bnai Brith Women, Hadassah, and Womens League of Tifereth Israel Synagogue, and was honored by Israel Bonds for her devoted work for Israel, where she was a frequent visitor. Funeral services MONDAY 9AM BETH EL SYNAGOGUE, 5224 W. 26th St. Interment Tifereth Israel Cemetery, Duluth. Transportation for friends and family to Duluth for interment services will be provided. Memorials preferred to Sholom Home. Shiva: Knollwood Place Community Room (Monday thru Wednesday). Arr. by Bruce E. Kuritzky & The Funeral Directors.
